About deadlysinx.net
deadlysinx.net has evolved over the years. It started out as a geocities community page dedicated to my Palace server that I once hosted. The Palace is a visual chat environment for Windows & Mac, for those who don’t know. After my initial entrance into the Palace world, this website and my Palace server became a little more popular and so my enthusiasm for the site grew as well, and I eventually changed the main topic of the site from my personal Palace Server – to All Visual Chat Environments and began testing some old ones, some new ones and even tried to write my own Visual Chat client in PHP-GTK that would connect to Palace Servers.
That kept up for several years and I updated a lot. During this time, I wanted a way for my visitors (and according to my cpanel web stats, I was getting around 500 unique visitors per month) to have a fun way to interact on the site. Tagboards were blowing up all over the web at the time and I just couldn’t find one that was free, had all the cool features I wanted to have and was easy to install. So I wrote my own and called it TagIt! Tagboard. The first public release, to be honest, was a mess of code. I just started learning PHP so I could write a tagboard script, had no idea how to use php’s ability to interact with SQL servers and I left some issues with the board long untouched. After about a year of playing with PHP I was getting better at writing secure & stable php code and using mySQL and I wrote a new version of Tagit! using an sql database.
After the second release of TagIt, I pretty much used this website to advertise the Tagboard and other misc. PHP code I wrote or found. Now, this site’s focus will cover a little more ground than it used to. It’s possible that I’ll re-post some of the old Visual Chat Environment articles that I have saved just for legacy. If I can find some more of my old screenshots, i’ll post them up as well. One thing is certain though… deadlysinx.net will always be home to TagIt! Tagboard.
About DeadlySin3
DeadlySin3 is a screen name that I had come up with after reading a book by Lawrence Sanders. It’s titled “The Third Deadly Sin”. Apparently the hard copy is worth some cash. That aside, my real name is Paul. Since I was a kid, I have always enjoyed tearing things apart. Namely my toys and electronics back then. Now, as a hobby, I tear into computers and more recently, some code that runs on them. Professionally, I tear into cars. It seems that my curiosity as a child has paved the way for my interests into adulthood.
I’m an ASE Certified Automobile Technician at Bennett Brothers Motors. I’m also the Service Manager there. More to come soon!
